Mission Statement


“The concept of professionalism is based on excellence – excellence of service, firmly founded on up-to-date knowledge and augmented using state-of-the-art techniques. The fundamentals of this “excellence”, is the relevance of service, its levels of performance, its methods and systems of delivery.”

It is with the foregoing in mind, and as a response to market pressures on the nature, scope and delivery of quality service, that we at Quantity Surveying Africa, have found it necessary to look to competent personnel and information technology for optimum solutions.

We believe this approach will enable us to offer our clientele accurate results in short periods of time, and allow us more time to concentrate on managerial-orientated and value-added services, in order to meet the ever increasing challenge and responses demanded of a modern Quantity Surveying practice.

Holds a Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Since completing his studies in 1992, he has been with various practicing firms of quantity surveyors. Peter wrote for his professional exams with SACQS and was registered as a professional quantity surveyor (PrQS) in November 1997. He also became a Professional Member (MRICS) of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors in July 2013. He has undertaken and been involved in various types of construction projects:

    Primary resource

    We boast a complete innovative approach in the delivery of our services backed by modern state-of-the-art technology and comprehensive software. Our measure of resource capability is completely production and performance based, rather than the traditional manual intensified approach.

    All documentation is generated and processed on computers using the latest software for various applications. Examples of computer software presently in use include: QS Plus 2000, ENG Plus 2000, Win QS, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Project.




    Empowerment Policy

    Quantity Surveying Africa concurs to the national policy of non-discrimination with respect to race, gender, religion and creed.

    Special attention is given to ensure that the company staff and management have the right attitude in support of set national empowerment policies and the transfer of skills.

    Social interaction between all colleagues is encouraged. Concerted efforts are made to employ previously marginalised individuals. Additional training is provided in-house where necessary.

    Technical staff (Johannesburg)

    H. Olivier
    He has worked exclusively for professional Quantity Surveying Practices since beginning full-time employment in August 1995, gaining experience in: the measuring and preparation of Base Cost Plans, Bills of Quantities / Contract Documentation, preparation of interim valuations, attendance of project-related meetings, re-measurement of quantities for and agreeing of Final Accounts with Contractors.

    He has gained experience on various types of projects, which include both building and civil works; schools, office blocks and office parks, mining works, roads, taxi ranks, exclusive housing, mass housing and hotels.

    Computer knowledge and skills including working with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint, as well as Win QS and QS Plus.


    D. Macqueen, B.Sc(QS). PrQS. PMAQS
    Is a registered member of both the Council and Association of South African Quantity Surveyors. He obtained his BSc (QS) degree from the University of Natal in 1983.

    His experience is diverse and briefly includes: all forms of construction projects (both Building and Engineering), Project and Construction Management, measurement of quantities, compilation of tender documentation, management of contracts (either as a Professional Quantity Surveyor or Project Manager), agreeing and settling of Final Accounts.

    Types of projects worked on include; Office accommodation, Housing schemes, Industrial and Educational facilities, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Hospitals and Shopping Centres.

    Computer knowledge and skills including working with Microsoft Word, Excel, WIN QS and QS Plus.


    N. Stone, HND (QS)
    He obtained his Higher National Diploma (QS) from Pentech in 1985.

    His experience is diverse and briefly includes; all forms of construction projects (both Building and Engineering), Project and Construction Management, measurement of quantities, compilation of tender documentation, management of contracts, agreeing and settling of Final Accounts.

    Types of projects worked on include; Various projects for Concor namely the Midrand Gautrain Station, Industrial facilities, Civil and Heavy Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Mining Engineering and Shopping Centres.

    Computer knowledge and skills including working with Microsoft Word, Excel, CCS and QS Plus.


    D. Douman, B.Sc (Construction Studies), B.Sc (QS)
    Darcelle completed her B.Sc (QS) studies at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2015.

    She has gained experience in all spheres of Quantity Surveying, including estimates, Bills of Quantities, Contract Administration and Final Account.

    Types of projects worked on include: Grade A Office accommodation, Factories, Warehouses, Housing developments, Industrial and Educational facilities.

    Computer knowledge and skills include working with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, QS Plus and DimX.


    A. Hattingh, B.Sc(QS). PrQS. PMAQS
    Is a registered member of both the Council and Association of South African Quantity Surveyors. He obtained his BSc (QS) degree from the University of Port Elizabeth in 1999.

    His experience is diverse and briefly includes: all forms of construction projects (both Building and Engineering), Project and Construction Management, measurement of quantities, compilation of tender documentation, management of contracts (either as a Professional Quantity Surveyor or Project Manager), agreeing and settling of Final Accounts.

    Types of projects worked on include: Office accommodation, Housing schemes, Industrial and Educational facilities, Civil Engineering, Hospitals and Shopping Centres.

    T. Rakholile, ND (Building)
    He obtained his National Diploma (Building) from Tshwane University of Technology in 2004.

    Projects worked on include Medupi Power Station, Roads, Stormwater infrastructure, large-scale erosion protection, movement of ore material, large concrete structures, Tutuka Rail project, Kusile Power Station and Gourikwa Power Station.

    His Quantity Surveying experience includes preparing and compiling cost estimates, procurement, tender adjudications, evaluating monthly Contractor valuations, assessing variation orders, calculating and recommendation of new rates, re-measurements during course of projects, assisting in compiling project change requests (PCR’s), compilation of monthly cost reports, payroll administration, measurement from as-built drawings, reporting and analysing planned versus actual progress on site.

    Computer knowledge and skills include using Microsoft Word, Excel and QS Plus.


    M. Mkhize, ND (Building)
    He obtained his National Diploma (Building) from Durban institute of Technology in 2003.

    Projects worked on include sports centres, schools, magistrates courts, community based projects, police stations, prisons, residential houses, and clinics. He has experience in various spheres of Quantity Surveying, including taking off quantities from drawings, the preparation of tender documentation, tender adjudications and recommendations, attendance and participation of project related meetings and site measurements.

    Technical staff (Western Cape)

    D. Davids, B Tech QS
    He obtained his National Diploma Construction Management and Quantity Surveying in 1994, and his BTech QS degree in 1997. He is an Associate member of the South African Cost Engineers and The Association of South African Quantity Surveyors.

    He has experience in both Building and Civil works type projects, including preparing cost estimates, Tender Bills of Quantities, compilation of procurement documentation, project administration, final remeasures, analysing and ruling on claims submitted by Contractors, supervising of individual and teams of junior Quantity Surveyors.

    Projects worked on include: shopping centres, iron ore smelters, office blocks, railway lines, golf course and villas, apartment blocks, hotels, oil and natural gas.

    Computer knowledge and skills include working with Microsoft Word, Excel, Model Maker, QS Plus and WinQS.

    I. Kubayi
    He is presently studying towards his B. Tech (QS) degree and is currently involved with numerous projects in the capacity of Assistant Quantity Surveyor.

    Projects worked on include sports centres, schools, magistrates courts, community based projects, police stations, prisons, residential houses, and clinics. He has experience in various spheres of Quantity Surveying, including taking off quantities from drawings, the preparation of tender documentation, tender adjudications and recommendations, attendance and participation of project related meetings and site measurements.

    R. Gill, ND (Building Surveyors)
    He obtained his National Diploma (Building Surveying) from Wits Technicon in 1989.

    His experience is diverse and briefly includes: all forms of construction projects (both Building and Engineering), Project and Construction Management, measurement of quantities, compilation of tender documentation, management of contracts (either as a Professional Quantity Surveyor or Project Manager), agreeing and settling of Final Accounts.

    Types of projects worked on include: Industrial facilities, Civil , Mechanical, Mining Engineering, Industrial and Educational facilities and Shopping Centres.
